Now what do I do? This recesion is killing me!
June 14th, 2009The slowdown in the economy has trickled down to most all levels including the many various support services. The construction industry is no exception and leaves many of us wandering where to focus our marketing efforts. Some are searching for a quick fix or the next get-rich-quick-scheme. Not me. I say stick it out. You are what you are, and if you are really meant to do what you do for a living then you should be good enough to survive so stick with it. That doesn’t mean suffer without change. Sure, consider new angles and spread out your creative tallents, but do what makes you the success that you are, just do it well; do it better; better than you ever did before. Pump it up. Raise you profile with your clients. Heap on the customer service, not in a fake-artificial way rather a real meaningful honest way. Show them how much you care about their needs. Sure, you used to think a cushy government job had better job security but even that notion is flawed. It always has been flawed. I have always said that job security is a state of mind and nothing more. This recesion has proved my right. Even the guy(gal) at the DMV taking mug shots has to worry about his future now. What ever your niche is promote it, sell it, believe it. Life is what you make it. TJ
